Overview

Canadians come from many different racial and religious backgrounds but the primary influence on Canada’s culture has been from European culture and European traditions. Canada is also recognised as being one of the most cosmopolitan and multicultural countries in the world. In 1971 Canada was the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism as an official government policy.

Canada is a country based on the standards of equality, diversity, and respect for all individuals in society. Women, men, children, and the older generation are all equally respected under Canadian law.

The influence of British culture can clearly be seen across most of Canada especially in the West of the country around British Columbia.  In Quebec though the primary influence on their culture has been from the French and this can be seen in everything from the language to the architecture.

It is beyond doubt that Canadians are some of the most respectful and tolerant people when it comes to other races and their beliefs.  This has been appreciated by many generations of migrants from all over the world that have made the decision to experience all that Canada has to offer them and their family.
