Overview

The Canadian currency is dollar made up of dollars ($) and cents (¢) in a very similar fashion to the U.S, Australian and New Zealand currency.  

Money Exchange

It is possible to change your money in any recognized financial institution such as a bank or bureau de change. Be aware that shops, hotels and restaurant will also offer exchange your currency, but for a lower rate. So be prepared and exchange some money before travelling.

Credit Cards

Most credit cards are acceptable in Canada (MasterCard, American Express Visa Card). You can also withdraw you money in a ABM also know as an ATM .You will find them located in most banks, stores, airports and many other location. Travelers Cheques are also acceptable in most shops restaurants and hotels in Canada.

Tipping and Service Tax

In Canada the service charge is usually not included on the restaurant bill. Like many countries, if you happy with the service received you should leave 15-20 per cent tip. However in some places for a bigger group of people 15 pre cent of service charge will be add to your bill. All other services are usually tipped at 15 per cent.
