The UK is the gateway to Europe and should you be living in the UK as a foreign national on a valid visa, you may wish to jump across the English Channel and explore some of the delights that Europe has to offer.  You should be aware that although Europe is gradually moving towards unification, every member state has it’s own strict immigration policy.  Just because you have a valid visa for to enter and leave the UK, this does not mean you can travel freely in mainland Europe.  You will therefore need to apply for a valid tourist or business visa for each country you wish to travel to.  Please refer to our section explaining Shengen Visas as Shengen Treaty countries have simplified visa applications for non EU nationals to travel to certain European countries.
