Overview

Canada currently runs a Business Immigration Program which seeks to attract seasoned business people to support and encourage the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

There are currently three classes of business immigrants:

  • Investors

  • Entrepreneurs

  • Self-Employed Persons

Each program provides the successful visa applicant the right to live and work in Canada on a permanent basis. Applicants are able to include eligible family members in their application, who will also be provided permanent residency status.

Investors

The Immigrant Investor Program is designed to allow business professionals the opportunity to live and work in any province of Canada (excluding Quebec) for an unlimited period of time and in return the applicant is required to make an investment of C$400,000. The CIC will return the C$400,000 investment, without interest, about five years and two months after initial payment. In addition to the investment, applicants must have a minimum net worth of C$800,000 that was obtained legally and must also pass a small points test.

Also,  those who have experience in Farm management and have the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada, will also qualify for this visa.
