The chances are, if you are making an application for a Tier 1 visa inside the UK, then you are either very keen to extend your stay in the UK and your visa is due to expire  or you have a very good job offer and you require the visa to allow you to either change jobs or start work full time. This makes getting the visa a necessity and as such you shouldn't take any unnecessary risks, which may mean losing the fantastic job offer or having to leave the UK as you no longer have a valid visa.

When you consider the government fee alone is £840, any mistake can be a costly exercise as you will need to make a new application and pay another government fee.

In addition to the financial implications of a refused application, there is also the time issue. If an employer wants you to begin work for them, they may be prepared to wait the 4 to 6 weeks it takes to process your application, however it is unlikely they will be prepared to wait for a further 4 to 6 weeks should you need to apply again.
