If you’re looking to apply to become a British citizen via Naturalisation, then you’ll be required to pay the government fee, which is currently £1,630 for adults and £1,214 for children under the age of 18. These fees incorporate the citizenship ceremony fee of £130 (where applicable) and the standard cost of a biometric appointment. Unlike most other visa applications, it is not possible to utilise a priority service for a Naturalisation application. This means all applications are treated the same and subject to the standard processing time. This is currently around 6 months, although this timescale can vary slightly throughout the year. As applicants need to be settled in the UK and hold ILR, there are no restrictions on travelling during the process.
